Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers have been the answer for many individuals who’ve had chipped, uneven, or stained teeth. Often, an imperfect smile can make a person feel self-conscious and lead to low self-esteem. In such cases, the person may cover the mouth when smiling or avoid smiling altogether. Porcelain veneers can create a beautiful smile and restore one’s self-confidence!

Porcelain is an extremely durable material. It also possesses similar properties to natural tooth enamel. For instance, porcelain is similar to enamel in color, translucence, and texture. However, unlike natural teeth, porcelain does not stain or decay. By applying a thin layer of porcelain to the teeth, any damage or stains can be hidden or alignment can be altered, creating a smile to be proud of.

Procedure for Applying Porcelain Veneers

Before the porcelain veneers are applied to the teeth, the surface of the teeth must be roughened a bit to make the veneers bond better to the teeth. A mold is then made of the teeth from which the veneers will be fashioned for a perfect fit. After the porcelain veneers are made, the patient returns to the dentist to make sure the veneers are the right shade and that they fit properly. Any necessary trimming and shaping will be done at this time. The patient’s teeth are thoroughly cleaned, and then the porcelain veneers are permanently bonded to the teeth.

If your teeth are badly stained, you might consider teeth whitening prior to undergoing the porcelain veneer procedure. Dark discolorations could show through the thin layer of porcelain, and once the veneers are applied, the whitening process will be futile.

At least two dental visits are required to complete the porcelain veneer procedure. A local anesthetic is typically used for a pain-free experience.

Costs of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can vary in cost from dentist to dentist based on expertise. The difficulty and extent of the procedure performed will also affect the price. The material cost is also a contributing factor of the final veneers. Consult our dentist for an estimated cost of a porcelain veneer procedure.

What to Expect after the Veneers are Applied

Porcelain veneers are permanent and should last a long time with proper care. They should feel like a natural part of your teeth and should be able to perform the same functions as your natural teeth. They can, however, be chipped by biting into or chewing on hard substances, so it is best to avoid things such as hard candies or ice cubes. Also, avoid clenching or grinding your teeth, as doing so can cause wear and tear on the veneers.

Be sure to practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist regularly to maintain your beautiful smile!

Hello Dr. Chang!!!

Hope all is well with you and the team in Dallas.

First off let me start by saying thank you so much for taking such amazing care of me when I fractured my tooth.

It was traumatizing for me! You, Stephanie and Melie took the time to calm me down and make sure that I understood my options.
Between yourself and Felix making sure my tooth came out natural, I feel like smiling again. (for real)

Thank you for the Dora blanket, the hugs and hand holding ;-))) ( it made a big difference )
Dear Dr. Chang, Dr. Duraini and Staff,

Thank you so much for your excellent work and service on my implants. Since my last visit in Dallas, the implants are fitting comfortably and I can actually chew the foods without any problems! I truly appreciate the time you’ve put into improving my quality of life! I’m soooo happy that I can finally enjoy all kinds of foods again. Thank you again! It was worth coming from out of state to see your office!!

Everyone in his office is so personable. They were very warm and very open.”
